Sunday 17th June - whooo's there

Another ludicrous week of weather and had to spend Saturday making a Victoria Sponge as I'd been entered into a Dad's only Victoria Sponge competition at the School Fete. I cook but I don't bake - it's fiddly and I make a mess and run out of patience - but I was quite chuffed with the result, but I didn't win !! (Another unscrupulous dad obviously paid off the judge).

The ducklings were due to arrive on Saturday, as I write this on Wednesday they all hatched on Monday and we have 11 ducklings !!!

A Hobby was seen twice flying over the house at the weekend and the Tawny Owl was exposed by the local birds on what I've now recognised as a favourite perch, which is a short stump protruding from a trunk about 15ft off the ground but fairly obscured behind a Holly. He sat there long enough for me to take a couple of pictures but bolted when he saw me.
