| SE view at dawn |
My 2 hour early slot between 6.30 and 8.30 was all I was able to fit in this weekend. The weather was overcast and the wind had switched to a brisk SW. I thought it might be promising and
17 Swallows in a tight group went over as I arrived on the reservoir track. However, this appeared to be short-lived optimism, I made my way to the southern point having seen 5
Stonechat,
3 Dartford Warbler,
1 Willow Warbler and
5 Chiffchaff. Returning back on the same pathways, I reached the reservoir track again, firstly seeing
4 Meadow Pipit and a
Wheatear, then nearer the gate
5 Crossbills and
4 Siskin were at the top of a Larch tree.
At home a single
Blackcap and a
Chiffchaff were visible, 2 more
Meadow Pipit flew over as did a
Hobby. Most surprising was a flock of 8
Cormorant.
Sunday 8th September,
The
Turtle Dove was again seen at home wandering around the garden, maybe the last sighting before it departs ?
