Friday 13th November - Lockdown 2 - Day 9

I hadn't realised until writing this that it was Friday 13th !, but gladly nothing untoward occurred, in fact not very much occurred at all. The weather was similar to yesterday with rain first thing which had stopped by 10am. When it rains at the moment, it isn't the light drizzling rain that is a bit refreshing and you can still happily walk in, it is the hard squally wet driving rain that destroys your ability to use optics.

My walk from home was not until the afternoon and I went towards Lower House Farm, mainly to see whether there had been any developments with the gathering of finches. However, the big flock of Linnets had mostly dispersed, or were out feeding somewhere out of view, there were still a few twittering in the trees but this probably amounted to no more than 20 birds. Further on the lane towards the arable fields a jittery flock of Redwing were feeding in a Holly, but no sign of any Fieldfare, Yellowhammer or Meadow Pipit. It could just be the change in time of day I was there. A group of Chaffinches held an unseen Brambling that was calling and other than some common woodland species that was it !

The weather for the weekend looks awful.
