Thursday 12th November - lockdown 2 - Day 8

After an hour or so of rain first thing today turned out to be the best weather all week, I waited for the rain to clear before heading on a walk but then my plans were thwarted. Adie's school phoned to say she needed to be collected as a classmate had tested positive for Covid, so I collected Adie from Petersfield and brought her home to isolate for 2 weeks. I don't have to isolate unless she develops any symptoms. It was early afternoon before everything was settled at home and I further delayed any walk by hopping into some garden chores that I've been putting off, which included planting some Garlic, Shallots and Broad Beans in the veggie patch, meant that walking ended up very local around a few fields.

This morning in the rain there seemed to be many more Woodpigeons in there hundreds and lots of Redwing, over 50 were flying around in small groups. The highlight was 3 Crossbill which flew over the garden. There was a lot of nervous activity by the local crows suggesting a Goshawk was in the area but if there was it was keeping well below the canopy. I've seen hardly any raptors in the last 2 weeks, an occasional raid on the feeders by Sparrowhawks and a glimpse of a single Buzzard every few days seems to have been it.

The lockdown list remained firmly on 55.
