A grey, dark and fairly miserable day drove me to stay much more local. I had put the moth trap out last night as it was still fairly mild, and despite only having 10 moths 3 were new. A Merveille du Jour, November Moth and Olive-tree Pearl (palpita vitrealis). For the first named moth, I haven't seen many moth names that are french, it roughly translates to 'wonder of the day'. It is quite smart looking although I wouldn't go that far in the description !

The morning was again mainly about thrushes, with 80+ Fieldfare in various groups of up to 20 birds all moving North and c150 Redwing, most in a similar direction. These were the highlights and other than a Sparrowhawk, 4 Mistle Thrush, 2 Bullfinch and the Grey Wagtail there was little else to report.
